Finance Association
Our Mission
The Finance Association is dedicated to preparing you for every step of your journey in finance. We provide opportunities to all Michigan State Students to explore different sectors of the industry through educational lessons and activities, resume workshops, interactive Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel sessions, interview preparation, roadshows, and more. Whether you're just getting started or preparing for your next career opportunity, our goal is to equip you with the knowledge, skills, and experience to succeed.
Our club is open to all students at Michigan State University; you do not need to be previously admitted to Broad, nor a business major.
Educational Lessons & Activities
Build a strong foundation in finance through engaging lessons, discussions, and hands-on activities. Our educational sessions introduce members to important financial concepts, industry terminology, and real-world applications while helping you better understand the many career paths and opportunities available within finance.
Resume Workshops
Learn how to create a professional, finance-focused resume that stands out to recruiters and employers. Our resume workshops cover formatting, relevant experiences, impactful bullet points, and ways to effectively highlight your skills, leadership, coursework, and extracurricular involvement. Members also have the opportunity to receive guidance and feedback to strengthen their resumes.
Microsoft PowerPoint & Excel Workshops
Develop the technical skills that are essential in today's finance industry through interactive PowerPoint and Excel workshops. From creating professional presentations to learning Excel functions, formulas, formatting, and data analysis, these sessions provide hands-on experience with tools commonly used by finance professionals.
Interview Preparation, Networking & Professional Development
Prepare for your next opportunity while building the professional skills and connections needed to succeed in finance. Our interview preparation sessions cover behavioral and technical questions, communication strategies, and professional etiquette, while networking and professional development events connect members with industry professionals, alumni, and fellow students. These experiences help you build confidence, expand your network, and prepare for internships and careers.
Roadshows & Career Exploration
Explore the diverse sectors and career paths within finance through our roadshows and industry-focused events. Members have the opportunity to travel to major financial hubs such as Chicago and New York City, visiting financial firms and gaining firsthand exposure to the industry. These experiences allow members to connect with finance professionals, learn about different roles and career paths, and experience what it’s like to work in some of the nation's leading financial markets. Roadshows provide an exciting opportunity to take learning beyond the classroom and build valuable connections along the way.
